Purpose-built Cable Landing Station and terrestrial front-haul route establish a vital new international telecommunications gateway in Southwest Florida 

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Infrastructure for the U.S. landing of the Carnival Submarine Networks-1 submarine cable system is advancing in Bonita Springs, project officials announced. The initiative establishes a physical gateway bringing a new high-capacity subsea telecommunications connection directly into the United States, linking Florida with Latin America. 

The CSN-1 system is a submarine cable designed to expand international transmission capacity, enhance route diversity, and bolster network resilience between the United States and Latin America. The critical infrastructure serves telecommunication carriers, cloud and content providers, enterprises, and public institutions reliant on high-capacity digital connectivity. 

The local infrastructure project comprises two closely integrated assets: a Cable Landing Station and a terrestrial front-haul route. 

The purpose-built, two-story Cable Landing Station encompasses approximately 20,000 square feet on a 31,233-square-foot site. The facility serves as the operational U.S. gateway where the subsea cable is landed and interconnected with terrestrial networks. 

Connecting the beach landing point to the station is an approximately 2.8-mile terrestrial front-haul fiber route installed within a conventional ducted conduit system along Bonita Beach Road. 

Engineered to carrier-grade operational standards, the facility includes redundant DC power systems, battery reserves, backup power generation, redundant cooling, building monitoring, controlled access, perimeter cameras, and clean-agent fire suppression. 

Development and operations are divided between two specialized entities. TELCOFACILITIES LLC owns and is developing the real estate, building, and passive infrastructure. TELCOSUB USA LLC serves as the U.S. operating entity responsible for the active telecommunications equipment and day-to-day operations of the network platform. 

Construction along the terrestrial front-haul route is scheduled to begin in August and is projected to conclude in October. To minimize traffic disruptions along Bonita Beach Road, construction will proceed in localized segments. Work will entail closing only one lane at a time within limited active work zones, allowing traffic to continue flowing through the corridor. 

As digital traffic continues to rely on subsea fiber-optic networks, the CSN-1 landing provides essential physical infrastructure to support cloud computing, international commerce, and public services. By establishing an alternative U.S. landing point, the project enhances physical route diversity and mitigates reliance on single-corridor paths.
